Chris (Hayes) Thomas brings more than 25 years of healthcare leadership and executive experience to her role as Interim Chief Executive Officer of Crook County Medical Services District.

A Hulett High School graduate, Chris has a longstanding connection to Crook County and previously served CCMSD as both a nurse and Interim CEO. During her previous time with the organization, she helped lead CCMSD through its transition to Critical Access Hospital status, an important milestone that has helped support healthcare services in the community for more than two decades.

Throughout her career, Chris has held a variety of clinical and leadership positions, including serving as Director of the Rapid City Emergency Department and Flight Program. She brings extensive experience in rural healthcare, emergency services, organizational leadership, and Critical Access Hospital operations.

Chris is passionate about the importance of community, relationships, and workplace culture in healthcare—particularly in close-knit rural communities. As Interim CEO, her focus is on providing stability and continuity, supporting CCMSD’s staff and providers, strengthening organizational strategy, and helping position the organization for long-term success.
