Tips for Eating Right

 Focus on your health, not your weight. Let goal achievement guide you instead of the number on the scale.

 Fill half your plate with fruits and vegetables. Vary the color and variety. These foods can be fresh, frozen or canned.

 Vary nutrients between lean protein choices, dairy products, whole grains, legumes, fruits and vegetables.

 Minimize saturated fats and added sugars.

 Take it slow because change will not happen overnight.

Tips for Exercise

 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise on 5 days per week is recommended to maintain good health.

 If you are doing “moderate- intensity” exercise, you should be able to maintain a conversation with heavy breathing.

 Set realistic goals for yourself.

 If exercise is new to you, start with a walking program.

 Find a friend, family member or a pet that you can exercise with.
