From Georgia to Wyoming: A Paramedic’s Journey and Passion for Community
With an incredible 28 years of EMS experience, Gina Ravine is no stranger to high-pressure situations. As a paramedic and ER attendant at Crook County Medical Services District, Gina brings not only her extensive expertise but also an unwavering passion for helping others. Originally from Georgia, Gina moved to Wyoming seeking a calmer pace of life, and she’s found her place in the heart of CCMSD’s tight-knit team.
“I’ve always been a natural caregiver,” Gina shares. “I love being a paramedic. I love working on the ambulance.” Her dedication to her work is evident, and she thrives under pressure—a skill honed through years of handling challenging situations.
Thriving Under Pressure
While many might find the ER environment stressful, Gina embraces the challenge. “It really doesn’t bother me. I actually feel like I thrive under stressful conditions,” she says confidently. Her background in Georgia prepared her well for any situation, and she appreciates the lower-stress atmosphere in Wyoming, which allows her to focus even more on patient care.
Teamwork and Camaraderie at CCMSD
Despite her extensive background, Gina finds CCMSD’s environment refreshingly supportive and collaborative. “It’s a family environment. We’re not just coworkers; we’re friends—both inside and outside of work,” Gina explains. “The second something happens, everyone knows their roles and jumps right in. We just do it—no questions asked.”
It’s this camaraderie and team dynamic that makes CCMSD stand out. Gina appreciates the sense of unity and how the staff seamlessly supports each other during critical moments.
Living and Exploring Wyoming
Although Gina lives about 30 miles away in Upton, she loves the close-knit feel of the area. “Sundance is a small town with a good attitude,” she says, though she jokingly laments the limited lunch options.
Outside of work, Gina and her husband embrace the Wyoming lifestyle with a spirit of adventure. “We love hiking and exploring the Black Hills,” she says. “There’s so much history and beauty to discover.” They’re still relatively new to the area, having moved from Georgia just three years ago, but they’re making the most of every opportunity to explore their stunning surroundings.
Gina’s dedication extends beyond her role at CCMSD. She also volunteers with the local fire and ambulance service in Upton. “When I’m not in Sundance, I’m down here running calls,” she notes proudly. And it’s a family affair—“My husband just got his EMT license last month. I’m so proud of him.”

When it comes down to it, Gina keeps it real about why CCMSD is a great place to work: “It’s the environment. It’s the people,” she says without hesitation. The team dynamics, especially in the ER and ambulance services, are unmatched. “We’ve got each other’s backs. There’s no drama, just a solid group that knows how to get the job done,” she adds. The supportive culture and genuine teamwork create an atmosphere that makes coming to work feel more like showing up for your second family.
