Meet Kelsie Williams, a passionate and dedicated CNA at Crook County. Kelsie’s journey in healthcare is a testament to her commitment and love for her work. We had the pleasure of catching up with Kelsie to learn more about her experiences and what drives her in her role at Crook County.
From Housekeeper to CNA
Kelsie’s journey at Crook County began eight years ago as a housekeeper. After a brief hiatus, she returned and has now been with the team for over four years. Her transition to becoming a CNA highlights her dedication and passion for patient care. “I started working here eight years ago as a housekeeper, and now I’ve been a CNA for four and a half years. It’s been an incredible journey,” says Kelsie.
Loving the Schedule and Environment
One of the aspects Kelsie loves most about her job is the self-scheduling flexibility. With her husband working at a coal mine, matching her schedule with his allows them to maximize their time together. “We do self-scheduling, so I can align my days off with my husband’s. It’s great to have that flexibility,” Kelsie explains. The professional yet fun environment at Crook County also makes it an enjoyable place to work. “The job environment is professional but also fun. It’s not exhausting to go in every day,” she adds.
Rewarding Patient Interactions
Working with patients in long-term care is a deeply rewarding experience for Kelsie. Despite the advice not to get attached, she finds it impossible not to form bonds with the patients. “They say you’re not supposed to get attached, but that’s impossible. It’s so rewarding to see their personalities and watch them get stronger,” Kelsie shares. Witnessing their progress and learning about their unique personalities is a source of immense satisfaction for her.
The Long-Term Care Unit Specifically
Kelsie appreciates the small, home-like environment of the long-term care unit. Compared to larger facilities, the more intimate setting allows for more one-on-one time with patients, ensuring they receive the care and attention they deserve. “This unit is so small that it feels like a home. Patients get so much more one-on-one time, and it’s more personal,” Kelsie notes.
The Culture at Crook County
The culture at Crook County stands out to Kelsie due to the strong sense of community and the willingness of everyone to help each other. Being in a small town, the staff at Crook County functions like a family, always ready to support one another across different departments. “Everyone is willing to help everyone else. It’s like a family, and that’s one of the best things about working here,” Kelsie says.
Life Outside of Work
When she’s not working, Kelsie enjoys golfing with her husband and spending time with their three dogs. She’s also an avid reader, which adds a relaxing balance to her life. “We golf and read a lot. It’s pretty relaxing and keeps us balanced!”
