CCMSD Employee Spotlight: Meet Kaitee Hernandez, Our Compassionate HR Generalist
At Crook County Medical Services District (CCMSD), we love shining a light on the amazing people who help make our organization what it is. One of those standout team members is Kaitee Hernandez, our Human Resources Generalist. With a passion for supporting both staff and the community, Kaitee’s work touches every part of the hospital.

A “Behind The Scenes” Warrior
Kaitee has been with CCMSD for a little over a year, and she’s passionate about the impact her role has on patient care, even if she’s not on the front lines. “I love being able to help others—whether it’s the employees or the facility as a whole. Even though I don’t do direct patient care, everything we do in my department ultimately impacts the quality of care for patients.” Kaitee plays a crucial role in supporting staff, ensuring that policies and procedures are followed to create a positive work environment that trickles down to benefit patients.

Opportunities That Empower Our Staff

Kaitee is a firm believer in the opportunities that CCMSD provides to its staff. From professional development plans and tuition reimbursement to certification pay, she’s proud of how CCMSD encourages employees to grow. “We really encourage continuing education and advancing skills, and we help pay for those. It’s one of the many benefits that make it a really attractive place to work.” Kaitee sees the potential in every staff member and is passionate about helping them build the career they envision.

A Close-Knit Culture with Big Plans for the Future

One of the things Kaitee loves most about CCMSD is the strong sense of community that comes with working in a small town. “Patients aren’t just a number—they’re valued members of the community, and we show that in how we care for them.” Kaitee also shared that CCMSD is making exciting strides to improve its workplace culture. “We’ve identified areas for improvement, and there are exciting changes coming soon. Stay tuned!”

A Heart for Sundance and Its Community

Beyond her work at CCMSD, Kaitee has a deep love for the Sundance community. After living away for 13 years, she returned, drawn by the tight-knit, supportive nature of the town. “I love that people genuinely care for each other here. When someone is going through a hard time, the way the community gathers around to support them is incredible. It really feels like a family.”

When Kaitee’s Not Working, She’s…

…Spending time outdoors, paddleboarding, cooking, baking, and checking items off her “live again” list—a personal journey inspired by her heart and lung transplants. “Being able to check things off that list means everything to me. It’s a reminder of how far I’ve come.” Her zest for life and fun-loving spirit shine through in everything she does, both at CCMSD and beyond!

Kaitee’s Quick Pitch for New Recruits

When it comes to recruiting new staff, Kaitee knows exactly what to highlight. “We have amazing opportunities for staff at all levels. There’s a high demand for nursing staff, and we offer competitive compensation and room for advancement. We love to promote from within and help you build the career you want.”

Exciting Times Ahead

Kaitee wrapped up our conversation by teasing some exciting developments at CCMSD, both for staff and the community. “We’re working on some new and improved services to make healthcare even more accessible, and we’re getting out into the community more—which is super exciting”

Kaitee’s dedication, both to her role and the community, shines brightly! She embodies the spirit of CCMSD with her hard work, compassion, and positive energy, always doing the “bit of extra “to ensure the best care for patients.
